Nancy and her friends start having strange dreams with a burned man in a christmas sweater and top hat. Suddenly Nancy's friends start dying in their dreams. The police don't believe her so its up to her to stop this killer. She must fight him in her dreams.

This movie is surprisingly very smart. This has some boo scares and all in all an awesome film. This has a gore not yet seen like this in film and a villian so sinister that makes people never want to dream again.

In this film the gore is not over the top at all, though there are moments of pure blood and guts. In this we see gallons of guts pour out of a bed and onto the ceiling. Another girl is taken and ripped apart by the killer's claws. Blood sprays the walls and the bed (what is it with blood and beds). This was a very bloody movie and it looked real. Sometimes the blood may have looked corny but that is only in a few shots of the entire movie.

This film showed two kinds of boobs. Fake ones and real ones. Now these are not the normal "fake" and real, this time one is fake and the other is real. In one scene a fake chest is split open and blood gushes out. Another scene shows our hero Nancy, get dragged into the bathtub. This time we see the real ones (note:this is a body double and not the actual actress)

This film has the best killer ever shown on film...Fred Kruger. Freddy was once a child molester who was caught and put on trial. He was released after no warrant was filed for his arrest. The parents of the town burned him at his "boiler room" hideout. Years later he is given the power to invade the teens dreams. He can do anything in the dreams. His favorite weapon is his glove which has four knifes attached to the fingers. His attire is his red and green striped sweater and hat. His favorite place to kill his victims is a boiler room where he can play off their fears. Freddy is personally my favorite killer of all time and a scary yet funny quality to him.

Nancy (Langenkamp) is a very likeable character in this film. She has many great qualities to a good heroine. She is, of course, the virgin of the film which is the rule of the horror genre. She is beautiful and intelligent and did I say beautiful. She is going out with Glen (Depp) who is like every other horny teen just without the extra horny. He is very likeable and the nice-guy of the movie. Tina (Wyss) is the one first terrorized by Freddy and is paranoid by it. She is pretty and has bad boy Ron (Garcia) who all he wants is sex, drugs and a whole lot more of both. These are all quite likeable. They have a very cool feel to them which brings the story up. The acting is not top notch but they do a good job. This is the debut of Johnny Depp and a great one to start in. This cast is perfectly selected.

This movie is extremely enjoyable. There are moments of pure terror and moments of pure laughter. Freddy is able to pull off both in his creepy way. I love this movie and I hold it dear to my heart.
