This is what the term "fun horror movie" was named after. This is absolutely over the top and that just adds to the overall fun factor. This movie has it all: Beautiful girls, great gore, and some great humor. Thank God for Wes Craven, Ben Affleck, Chris Moore, and Matt Damon for being smart enough to let all of this happen. At least there are still some smart people in Hollywood.

The characters are plenty and they each are fun as hell. I enjoyed the all although I do prefer Balthazar Getty's and Judah Friedlander's characters the most. Mainly because they were just entertaining characters that I was rooting for throughout the entire thing. Though I knew at least one of them wouldn't make it. I mean, this is a horror movie. Another character I liked was the Bartender, which was quite entertaining as the badass...well bartender. The brief cameo from Jason Mewes had me laughing my ass off since he was pretty much just there to die. I tried to really like Krista Allen's character but it was kinda hard since I saw the making of bit (Project Greenlight) and she was a complete bitch. But once I saw how hot she is, then I warmed up to her a bit.

The gore was spot on in almost every single aspect. It was relentless and at the same time fun. We get some decapitations, faces torn off, limbs ripped off, plenty of other juicy bits, which I won't spoil for you here. You just have to watch it and salivate at the mouth as you watch it. Also the pure fact that they killed off a child within the first twenty minutes just makes me smile. I mean honestly, who else would have the balls to kill off a child, in such a damn bloody way too if I say so myself. Only in independent filmmaking.

The acting in this is a bit iffy in parts. Some people really nail their parts (Clu Gulager, Balthazar, Judah, Henry Rollins), and others are just bad (Krista, Navi Rawat, and Jenny Wade). Allen and Wade can cry pretty good though. That's pretty much it. Rawat is just a waste of space, which is unfortunate since I've seen her in other stuff and she's normally really good. Looks to be the case of no passion. I just can't believe how good some of them and how bad others are. I guess that's just filmmaking for you. You can definitely tell there was some tension on the set, and that belief is solidified with seeing PG.

The directing is extremely good for first time director John Gulager. He definitely doesn't appear to be a newcomer in his great and steady approach to the work. He uses great stylish angles, and a dark gritty atmosphere. Unfortunately I can't see that he's doing anything in the future, which is very strange considering how good he really is. I hope he gets some work so that I don't have to see another good director succumb to the pressures of Hollywood.

The story is very basic with its From Dusk Till Dawn approach and that definitely worked for it. We were at one location the entire time: the bar. And that worked to the viewers advantage because we spend time with nearly all the characters for the same amount of time since they're always together. The dialogue is a bit awkward in parts but overall it gets the job done. Enjoyable and fun, that's all I can ask for.

I definitely loved the opening with the still shots with facts about the characters. They should have that in every horror movie! And for you guys, the cleavage is definitely on hand throughout the entire film so have no worries, Allen and Wade show it off the entire movie! I definitely enjoyed the film and its one I could watch again and again. It has fun, not taking itself too seriously but still looking great in the process.
